The Bluetooth Special Interest Group announced Bluetooth High Data Throughput (BLOW), the flagship update that will be part of the Bluetooth Core 7.0 specification. The new standard raises the maximum data rate to 7.5 Mbps, several times higher than the current 2.5 Mbps limit.
According to the press release, the higher throughput will allow ordinary Bluetooth headphones and smartphones to transmit lossless, high‑resolution audio. The first products supporting Bluetooth 7.0 are expected to reach the market in early 2027.
